The government offer grants to individuals for personal needs, but there are some exceptions. Instead, federal grants are usually for organizations and states that work with government-funded programs and projects. However, there are some grants that may be available to individuals, such as:
Federal student aid grants
These grants include the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant, and Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant. Colleges and career schools can provide information on eligibility and when grants may be available.
Grants from the Administration for Children and Families (ACF)
This division of the Department of Health and Human Services issues grants to promote the well-being of children, families, and communities.
Grants from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
HUD offers a variety of grants, including the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program, Section 811 Supportive Housing, and the Homeownership Initiative Grant.

Government grants can be a valuable resource for individuals looking to further their education, secure housing, or start a business. Some other types of grants include:
Community foundations: These foundations may administer grant programs for their affiliates and funds, but the grants are usually awarded to qualified nonprofits and governmental organizations, not individuals.
Matching grants: These grants often require the recipient organization to match a percentage of the grant amount with their own resources. The goal of matching grants is to increase the impact of the grant money and encourage community support.
Program grants: These grants provide funding for specific projects or programs.
